mjymi

I'm back with another ebeezeebee collab! This collab was headed by Ryan, based on his build Ashi from 2022. The main distinctive feature of these characters is their heads, which are all Bohrok canister lids! I used Tahnok-Kal's lid for mine. Check out what my friends built!

TYPE ASHI

Often when I'm struggling to develop concepts for a build, I look through my tubs for large and unusual elements to use as seed parts. This time, I came across part 30584c01 - the Aero Tube pump from my old Mars Mission sets. The pump gave me a sort of medical/life-support vibe, so I tried to pair it with what felt like fitting colors. I think Igaku Teto was a subconscious inspiration. I wanted it to stand apart from Ryan's red Ashi too, so I gave it some little ears with a 45276Pahrak-Kal shield clamped in place. It added a bit more cute-factor, too :p.

wip wip

Originally the build had a sort of waistcoat and boots, but I scrapped it for something a little more stubby and gremlin-y. I'm pretty pleased with the flared legs and feet I came up with in the end. I can't really say the same for the arms though, as the hand design is pretty unashamedly ripped from Ryan's builds (thanku Ryan..). You can see the hip-canisters gradually extended in length as I continued building (and continued finding more round white bricks).

back insides

If I get the chance, I think I'd like to build out the back area slightly more, as I think the outlet of the Aero Tube pump offers some interesting opportunities for connections and accessories. I've also included a shot of the inner 'frame' of my build, which connects to the pump by the 2x4 brick at the bottom. It's a fairly simple construction, but holds well enough. I'm also waiting on a few replacement parts for the legs, so in the meantime I just colour corrected them in post hhh.

unedited

I have some ideas about mjymi's character, but I find it a little hard to write about it. I hope some of her personality comes across in the build. Lego can often be a pretty abstract medium, so it can sometimes be hard to accurately capture the vision in your head or what you feel. But I think this build captured a little of that.

Today's song is 2 by Mom. One of my favorites.
